Walking is a good form of exercise. It is very simple, free and one of the easiest ways of exercise to keep fit and stay active. It is an ideal exercise which is suitable for people of all ages. But some say that walking is more than an exercise as it cures and reduces the risk of many diseases that other exercises cannot. Again, it is a free-hand exercise. So it costs nothing and needs no extra equipment or preparation. Anybody can walk anytime and make it a habit to have longer-lasting benefits in body and mind. Doctors frequently prescribe patients for walking. This is because it strengthens the heart and thus reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke. Regular walking habit also minimizes the risk of type 2 diabetes, asthma, and some cancers. It also helps to lose weight which eventually ensures the prevention of many diseases. Moreover, walking helps to keep our body active and energetic. It also make us fit for work and makes our mind cheerful and vigorous. Therefore, to get all these immense benefits, we should walk regularly. We can walk at any time. But Morning is the best hour to walk for exercise. By walking in the early morning, we can enjoy the fresh air and the beauty of nature as well as start our day with a mind full of inspiration and joy. But it is not essential to allot time for walking. A man can leave up rickshaw and take a walk while going to workplace. Furthermore, walking to the shop, using the stairs instead of lift, leaving the car behind for short journeys, walking the kids to school, etc can be the best practice of walking. There are people who, realizing the importance of this exercise, join a walking club to ensure the best result. However, for the soundness of both body and mind, we all should form this simple habit and walk at least 30 minutes per day.
