At present, tree plantation is a crying need all over the world. Planting more and more trees is the demand of time. It is quite impossible for man and animal to exist in the world without the help of trees. Trees give us food, fruit, timber, wood, medicine etc. It also gives us life-saving oxygen to breathe in. 
Moreover, trees prevent soil erosion, make the land fertile, save us from cyclones, floods, droughts etc. and prevent global warming. Trees are called our real friends. Planting trees is also profitable if anybody wants to plant for commercial purposes. Despite having so many advantages, men are not planting trees on a large scale but cutting down without consideration. In want of adequate trees, the world is being led to ruin and becoming unlivable day by day. Therefore, it is high time the world planted more and more trees as well as spread away tree plantation programs to every comer of the world. But merely planting trees is not enough. Trees must be taken care of to let them grow. All conscious people know that a country needs 25% forest of its total land area. But our country as well as the world lacks the amount. If we can fulfill the demand by planting trees abundantly, our globe can turn into a safer place to live in.

বর্তমানে বৃক্ষরোপণ সমস্ত পৃথিবী ব্যাপী একটি জরুরী প্রয়োজনীয় বিষয়। বেশি বেশি বৃক্ষরোপণ এখন সময়ের দাবি। মানুষ ও প্রাণীর পক্ষে গাছের সাহায্য ছাড়া এ পৃথিবীতে টিকে থাকা সম্পূর্ণ অসম্ভব। গাছ আমাদের দেয় খাদ্য, ফল, জ্বালানি, কাঠ, ঔষধ ইত্যাদি। এটা আমাদের নিঃশ্বাসের জন্য জীবনরক্ষাকারী অক্সিজেন ও দেয়। তাছাড়া,গাছ মাটিক্ষয় রোধ করে, ভূমিকে উর্বর করে, আমাদেরকে রক্ষা করে সাইক্লোন, বন্যা ও খরা থেকে এবং বৈশ্বিক উষ্ণতা রোধ করে। গাছকে বলা হয় আমাদের সত্যিকারের বন্ধু। বৃক্ষরোপণ লাভজনকও, যদি কেউ বাণিজ্যিক ভিত্তিতে গাছ লাগাতে চায়। এত বেশি সুযোগ-সুবিধা থাকা সত্ত্বেও মানুষ ব্যাপকভাবে বৃক্ষরোপণ করছে না বরং নির্বিচারে গাছ কাটছে। পর্যাপ্ত গাছের অভাবে পৃথিবীটা দিনে দিনে ধ্বংসের দিকে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে এবং অবাসযোগ্য হয়ে পড়ছে। তাই, পৃথিবীর জন্য এখনই উত্তম সময় বেশি বেশি বৃক্ষরোপণ করার এবং একই সাথে বৃক্ষরোপণ অভিযান কে পৃথিবীর প্রতি প্রান্তে ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার। কিন্তু শুধুমাত্র বৃক্ষরোপণই যথেষ্ট নয়। গাছের অবশ্যই যত্ন নিতে হবে ওগুলোকে বেড়ে ওঠার সুযোগ দানের জন্য। সকল সচেতন মানুষই জানে যে, একটা দেশের মোট আয়তনের ২৫ শতাংশ বনভূমি থাকা প্রয়োজন। কিন্তু আমাদের দেশে এবং একই সাথে সারা পৃথিবীতে এই পরিমাণে ঘাটতি রয়েছে। যদি আমরা ব্যাপকভাবে বৃক্ষ রোপনের মাধ্যমে বৃক্ষের এই চাহিদা পূরণ করতে পারি, আমাদের বিশ্বটা বসবাসের জন্য একটি নিরাপদ স্থানে পরিণত হতে পারে।
