একদা একটি নির্দিষ্ট জঙ্গলে এক চতুর শিয়াল ছিল। একদিন জঙ্গলের মধ্য দিয়ে হাঁটতে গিয়ে সে ফাঁদে পড়ে গেল। সে ফাঁদ থেকে বেরিয়ে আসতে পেরেছিল কিন্তু, দুর্ভাগ্যবশত, সে তার লেজ পিছনে ফেলে আসে। লেজ বিহীন, মিস্টার ফক্সকে অদ্ভুত দেখাচ্ছিল। সে লজ্জাও পেল।
প্রথমে, কিছু শেয়াল তার প্রস্তাবে সম্মত হয়েছিল কিন্তু, অবশেষে, দলের বৃদ্ধ জ্ঞানী শিয়াল্টি মিঃ ফক্স এর চালাকি বুঝতে পারল এবং তার দুষ্ট পরিকল্পনা সবার কাছে প্রকাশ করে দিল।

The Fox without a Tail
Once there was a clever fox in a certain jungle. One day, while he was walking through the jungle, he fell into a trap. He could come out of the trap but, unfortunately, he left his tail behind. Without his tail, Mr. Fox looked strange. He also felt ashamed.
Then he hit upon a plan and called the other foxes of the jungle in a meeting. He wanted to trick them by telling them that their tails were ugly and dirty. So tails were useless to them. He also told the foxes that he himself had cut his tail with a knife and every fox should follow his example. At first, some of the foxes agreed to his proposal but, finally, the Old Wise Fox of the group could understand Mr. Fox’s trick and disclosed his wicked plan to everybody.
Then all could understand that Mr. Fox had not cut but lost his tail falling into the trap and only he is looking ugly now. At last, to the teasing of all the foxes, the sly fox ran away from that place. Actually Mr. Fox was clever but not wise.
