The Dog and the Cook-Story

The Dog and the Cook

Once, a rich man arranged a banquet. He invited many friends and acquaintances to the feast. His dog thought it would be a great arrangement and said to himself, “it is a good opportunity to invite another of my friends.”
As he thought, he went to his best friend and said, ” My master is giving a feast: there’ll be a great fun and enjoyment. So come and dine with me to-night.”
The invited dog reached the spot earlier with a jolly mind. Seeing the grandeur of the preparations being made in the kitchen, he thought him to be very lucky. He greedily intended to eat enough that night to last him two or three days. In the presence of his friend, he waged his tail briskly that showed how delighted he was to get invited.
But shortly the dog was caught sight of by the cook. Seeing a strange dog in that situation, he flew into a rage. And in his great annoyance, he caught him up by the hind legs and threw him out of the window.
The wretched dog had a terrible fall and limped away as quickly as he could, howling dismally. In a few moments, some other dogs met him and said, “What sort of dinner did you enjoy tonight?”
With a fake smile, the dog replied, “Why, to tell you the truth, I had a splendid time; I drank so much wine that I remember nothing. I do not know how I got out of the house.”
