Global Warming

Global warming involves the increase in the earth’s average surface temperature due to the influence of greenhouse gasses. Earth’s climate is mostly influenced by the first 6 miles or so of the atmosphere which contains different gasses. If greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide, water vapor, CFC, nitrous oxide, and methane increase in the atmosphere, they can entrap the heat of the sun and prevent it from escaping. This is much like the glass panels of a greenhouse. This process, known as the greenhouse effect, increases the average temperature of the atmosphere resulting in natural calamities in the earth through climate change. The main culprit for temperature rising is carbon dioxide which is emitted by burning fossil fuels like coal, mineral oil, and natural gas and due to deforestation. Fossil fuels are being burnt throughout the world to run buses and trucks, for electricity generation, in different manufacturing industries, to heat the house and so on. This burning results in the total worldwide emission of about 22 billion tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere each year. Other gasses are also being released in one way or another. Moreover, a large number of trees are being cut down or burnt in need of agriculture and habitat. All these are causing a rise in the temperature of the atmosphere. As a result, polar ice caps are melting causing sea level to rise. A notable change is noticed in the climate of the earth resulting in constant and untimely floods, cyclones, drought, tsunami, etc. Rising sea level may flood the low lying coastal areas and change in land productivity on a large scale. It is proven that human beings are responsible for these natural dangers. Therefore, it is also obvious that if we are unjust to nature with our behavior and activities, nature will also take revenge upon us leading us towards various disasters.
