Assertive sentence থেকে Imperative এ পরিবর্তন: সকল Rules
Assertive sentence হল সাধারন বর্ণনামূলক বা বিবৃতিমূলক বাক্য যা basically Subject দিয়ে শুরু হয়, অর্থাৎ- যার গঠন হয় নিম্নরূপ-
Subject + Verb +……
You go to school early.
তুমি আগে আগে স্কুলে যাও।
পক্ষান্তরে Imperative sentence প্রধানতঃ আদেশ, অনুরোধ, উপদেশ সূচক বাক্য যা (basically) Verb দিয়ে শুরু হয় (যেহেতু Subject ‘You’ সর্বদা উহ্য থাকে) অর্থাৎ- যার গঠন হয় নিম্নরূপ-
Verb +……
Go home at once.
এক্ষুনি বাড়ি যাও।
এই lesson এ আমাদের কাজ Assertive sentence কে Imperative এ পরিণত করে ফেলা, এবং বিপরীতক্রমে, একই সাথে Imperative কে Assertive এ পরিণত করা।

Imperative sentence এর বিভিন্ন স্টাইল
Style ও structure এর উপর ভিত্তি করে Imperative sentence বিভিন্ন রকমের হয়। আমরা Next step এ প্রতিটিকে আলাদাভাবে Assertive এ Transform করে দেখাব। একই Assertive থেকে Imperative কিভাবে করতে হয়, তাও দেখা

Rule: 1 Assertive to Imperative: Verb + …..
আমরা জানি Imperative sentence এ Subject থাকেনা।
অন্য কথায়, Imperative sentence এ Subject ‘YOU’ উহ্য থাকে।
অর্থাৎ- যেহেতু Second person ‘You বা তুমি’ কে সামনে রেখে আদেশ/অনুরোধ/উপদেশ সূচক কিছু কথা বলা হয়, যেমন- তুমি এটা কর, তুমি সেটা কর; সেই কারনে ‘You’ কে লেখা হয়না।
সাধারন Imperative sentence শুরু হয় Verb দিয়ে।
যেমন-
Imperative: তুমি দরজাটি বন্ধ কর – Close the door.
Assertive: তুমি দরজাটি বন্ধ কর – You close the door.
তাহলে এবার একই সাথে দেখে নাও, Imperative থেকে Assertive এবং Assertive থেকে Imperative এর Structure এবং Example-

অর্থাৎ-
- Imperative থেকে Assertive করতে Verb এর পূর্বে Subject ‘You’ বসিয়ে দিলেই চলবে।
- পক্ষান্তরে, Assertive থেকে Imperative করতে Subject ‘You’ উঠিয়ে দিলেই চলবে।
লক্ষ্য কর, Assertive এর ক্ষেত্রে sentence টি অন্যভাবেও করা যায় বা Assertive sentence টি অন্যভাবে থাকলেও একে একইভাবে Imperative করা যায়; যেমন-
Imperative: Take the duster.
Assertive: You take the duster.
Imperative: Write your address.
Assertive: You have to write your address.
Imperative: Utilize your time.
Assertive: You ought to utilize your time.
Imperative: Complete your writing in time.
Assertive: You must complete your writing in time.
Imperative sentence এ সচরাচর তিনটি ভাবই প্রাধান্য পায়- আদেশ (Order), অনুরোধ (Request) এবং উপদেশ (Advice)। সুতরাং, এই দৃষ্টিকোন থেকে কোন একটি ভাবকে বিশেষভাবে ফুটিয়ে তুলতে চাইলে, Assertive sentence টিকে নিচের মত করেও Transform করা যায়-
Imperative: Go home at once.
Assertive: You are ordered to go home at once.
Imperative: Please/Kindly give me your calculator.
Assertive: You are requested to give me your calculator.
Imperative: Play at the time of playing.
Assertive: You are advised to play at the time of playing.
Assertive: You ought to obey your superiors.
Imperative: Obey your superiors.
Assertive: You are requested to give me a hand.
Imperative: Please, give me a hand.
Assertive: You should always help the poor.
Imperative: Always help the poor.
Assertive: You are ordered to count the coins within a minute.
Imperative: Count the coins within a minute.
Assertive: You must get the first prize in the competition.
Imperative: Get the first prize in the competition.
Rule: 2 Assertive to Imperative: Don’t/Never + Verb + …..
না-বাচক Imperative গুলো Don’t বা Never দিয়ে শুরু হয়।
Do not বা Don’t দিয়ে শুরু হলে সাধারনভাবে ‘না’ বা ‘নিষেধ’ প্রকাশ করে। Never দিয়ে শুরু হলে ‘কখনো না’ বা ‘নিষেধ’ প্রকাশ করে।
Do not/Never এর পরে Verb বসে ও তারপর অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসে।
Don’t/Never + Verb + …….
যেমন-
Imperative: Do not disturb me- আমাকে বিরক্ত করো না।
Imperative: Never tell a lie- কখনো মিথ্যা বলোনা।
তাহলে এবার দেখে নাও, কিভাবে এ ধরনের sentence কে Imperative থেকে Assertive এবং Assertive থেকে Imperative করতে হয়-

অর্থাৎ-
- Imperative থেকে Assertive করতে Verb এর পূর্বে Subject ‘You’ বসবে।
- Don’t দিয়ে শুরু হলে should not এবং Never দিয়ে শুরু হলে should never বসবে।
- Verb টি বসবে।
- অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসবে।
লক্ষ্য কর, Imperative sentence টি Do not দিয়ে শুরু হলে Assertive করতে ‘should not’ এর বদলে ‘do not’ ও বসানো যায়; যেমন-
Imperative: Do not make a noise in the class.
Assertive: You do not make a noise in the class.
Imperative sentence টি ‘Please do not + Verb’ দিয়ে শুরু হলে Assertive করতে ‘You are requested not to + Verb’ দিয়েও করা যায়; যেমন-
Imperative: Please do not write anything on the wall.
Assertive: You are requested not to write anything on the wall.
Imperative: Do not speak ill of others.
Assertive: You should not speak ill of others.
Imperative: Never mix with bad boys.
Assertive: You should never mix with bad boys.
Imperative: Don’t leap before you look.
Assertive: You should not leap before you look.

Assertive থেকে Imperative করতে-
- Subject ‘You’ উঠে যাবে।
- ‘You’ পরবর্তী do not বা should not বা should Never উঠে গিয়ে শুধু Don’t বা Never বসবে।
- Verb টি বসবে।
- অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসবে।
Assertive: You should not look down upon the poor.
Imperative: Do not look down upon the poor.
Assertive: You should never disturb the class.
Imperative: Never disturb the class.
Assertive: You are requested not to speak so loudly.
Imperative: Don’t speak so loudly.
Assertive: You should never play at the time of reading.
Imperative: Never play at the time of reading.
Rule: 3 Assertive to Imperative: Let + Object + Verb + …..
Let অর্থ (এখানে)- অনুমতি দেওয়া।
‘Let + Object + Verb’ দিয়ে গঠিত Imperative sentence দ্বারা second person ‘YOU’ কে কাউকে কোনকিছু করতে ‘দিতে’ বা ‘অনুমতি দিতে’ আহবান করা হয়।
এখানেও Let এর পূর্বে মনে মনে Subject ‘You’ আছে ধরে নিতে হবে।

এবার দেখে নাও, কিভাবে এ ধরনের sentence কে Imperative থেকে Assertive এবং Assertive থেকে Imperative করতে হয়-

অর্থাৎ-
- Imperative থেকে Assertive করতে Let পরবর্তী Object এর Subject রূপ বসাতে হবে। এখানে- him থেকে he বসেছে।
- Subject এর পরে Helping Verb হিসাবে should বা might বা must বসবে।
- Verb বসবে।
- বাকিটুকু (Extension) বসবে।
Imperative: Let her go with you.
Assertive: She might go with you.
Imperative: Let the boy eat this fruit.
Assertive: The boy must eat this fruit.
Imperative: Let them play in the rain.
Assertive: They might play in the rain.
Imperative: Let your friends share this with you.
Assertive: Your friends should share this with you.
Assertive থেকে Imperative করতে কি কি করতে হবে তা নিশ্চয় এতক্ষন যে Rule টি দেখিয়েছি (Imperative to Assertive) তা থেকেই বুঝে গেছ।
- Assertive থেকে Imperative করতে প্রথমে একটি Let বসবে।
- Subject এর Object রূপ বসবে (যেমন- He থেকে him বা I থেকে me)।
- should বা might বা must উঠে গিয়ে Main verb টি বসবে। (এখানে go)।
- বাকিটুকু (Extension) বসবে।
যেমন-
Assertive: She must cook food herself.
Imperative: Let her cook food herself.
কিন্তু, Assertive sentence টি যদি Negative হয়, অর্থাৎ ‘not’ যুক্ত হয়, তবে Imperative এ Let পরবর্তী Object টি Pronoun হলে নিম্নের Structure অনুযায়ী বসবে-
Let + Object (Pron) + not + Verb + Ext…….
Assertive: She should not do heavy household works.
Imperative: Let her not do heavy household works.
আবার, এক্ষেত্রে, Imperative এ Let পরবর্তী Object টি Noun হলে নিম্নের Structure অনুযায়ী বসবে-
Let + not + Object (Noun) + Verb + Ext…….
Assertive: Students should not enter here without uniform.
Imperative: Let not students enter here without uniform.
Assertive: Mamun should not take part in games.
Imperative: Let not Mamun take part in games.
Assertive: They might take care of the garden.
Imperative: Let them take care of the garden.
Assertive: He should start a business.
Imperative: Let him start a business.
Assertive: She should not leave her job.
Imperative: Let her not leave her job.
Assertive: Farmers should start sowing seeds from this week.
Imperative: Let farmers start sowing seeds from this week.
Rule: 4 Assertive to Imperative: Let + us + Verb + …..
‘Let us + Verb’ দিয়ে গঠিত Imperative sentence দ্বারা প্রস্তাব বুঝানো হয়।
অর্থাৎ এটা দ্বারা- second person ‘YOU’ কে ‘চল এটা করি’ বা ‘চল সেটা করি’- এভাবে সম্মিলিতভাবে কোনকিছু করার প্রস্তাব দেওয়া বুঝায়।
এখানেও Let এর পূর্বে মনে মনে Subject ‘You’ আছে ধরে নিতে হবে।

অর্থাৎ-
- Imperative থেকে Assertive করতে Subject হিসাবে ‘We’ বসবে।
- Let উঠে যাবে। Subject এর পরে Helping Verb হিসাবে should বসবে।
- Verb বসবে।
- বাকিটুকু (Extension) বসবে।
